It was Macabre! ... And tasty.

  • Watching: The explosions ...
Sunday was the splurge day for my family, we went out and got four games, Lair, The Orange Box (I am in love), Prototype and Mercenaries: World in Flames.

My parents also bought two jumbo lobsters, the side of the box said 25 pounds between the two of them. I've never seen lobsters so large before. The claws were as large as my hands and the bodies were longer than my forearm, I'll post pictures later. My family quickly discovered that there is such a thing as a lobster too large.

The largest pots my mother owns were not large enough. A couple of you may be familiar with the beige stock pot, usually used for cooking pinto beans. The tail, though curled under would not fit into the pot as we tried to insert the crustacean face first.

The result from this discovery of ill fit was ripping the primary limbs off the lobster so we could boil the claws in one pot and the rest in another taller pot that could accommodate something so large. Though it is hard to empathize with something so alien looking as a crustacean, but I did feel sorry for him as he was half-boiled and still moving when the ripping occurred.

So did my step-dad, so when it came to the second lobster he drove a knife through it's brain until the mouth pieces stopped thrashing before ripping off the limbs and boiling.

The tasty part was of course eating the lobsters afterward, though that was not the end of the macabre. The green organ mush that you find inside the lobsters and is used in most versions of lobster stew, I watched it ooze out of the upper body after rending the cooked tail off. Not a pleasant sight.

Other than that life if going forward as usual.
